Search Engine Optimization isn’t hard.  No matter what the other search engine optimization “gurus” say, it’s really not that hard.

You just got to know what you’re doing….you just need to know the basics. The difficult part of Search Engine Optimization is getting over the “instant” mindset that so many people have when it comes to websites. Because most things with computers/websites are instant but SEO isn’t. 

SEO is more like planting a garden than it is like sending an email or updating your facebook.

Today I got an email titled “CRASH COURSE IN ORGANIC SEO” from some other SEO company.  This email is pretty good actually. It basically had all the principles that any SEO person already knows.     Make sure you select the right keywords.  Make sure your title tags, make sure you have good analytics….

But, truth be told, #4, is the huckleberry….Off Page SEO.   Off Page is also known as “off site” SEO…this is all the activity you do away from your actual website that helps your website gain credibility with the Google Search Engine bots.

For example, I do a lot of mortgage SEO. My main mortgage website is www.mylendingplace.com.  Most of the mortgage leads I get come today from this electronic garden I planted almost 10 years ago.  So I’ve been doing mortgage SEO for a long time!  And I pretty much failed my way to success. 

However, MOST of my time is spent “off site” from www.mylendingplace.com.   For example, I just built www.westtexasmortage.com.  

I did this for 3 reasons. 

#1. The new site have great keywords like “texas mortgage” (my primary keywords). 

#2, It’s  geographic specific, so as I build sub-pages, I can focus on smaller markets for keywords like:  “Lubbock Mortgage”, “Amarillo Refinance Rates.” Eg. Westtexasmortgage.com/Lubbock.  And when I do, notice how the URL becomes keyword rich for “Lubbock Texas Mortgage”.  

Imagine linking to your website from that page…what are the chances you’ll start to rank well for “lubbock texas mortgage?”  Pretty good, right! Because the quality/place of the links TO your site dictate the keywords your website is found for.  Read that last sentence again.

So if you want to rank well for “EL PASO MORTGAGE” you probably need to link from a site that’s SEO’d for “EL PASO MORTGAGE.”    So, not only will www.westtexasmortgage.com bring leads in from West Texas but it helps solidify www.mylendingplace.com ‘s overall ranking for all things “Texas Mortgage Refinance.”

And finally, # 3, as I have already mentioned, having www.westtexasmortgage.com gives me yet another site to link back to my main site www.mylendingplace.com with anchor text and images links.

Simply put, there isn’t a “crash course in SEO”-there’s simply building quality websites, Content is King, that have good content and good links.   The more quality links your site has (from other websites) the better you’ll do in the SEO space.

If you’re looking to gain traction in the SEO space, consider talking to us before writing those other guys big $$.  Because we know what we’re doing…especially in the mortgage SEO space. I mean, we can help anybody in any business but mortgage SEO is kinda our specialty because we have lots of solid, well ranked mortgage websites to link from! 

So if you’re a Dallas Mortgage Company and your website is XYZ.com, wouldn’t it be beneficial to start putting your content on www.dallaslending.com or www.westtexasmortgage.com?

Yes, because the more QUALITY links you get to your website from other similar pages the better your websites performs in the SEO space.
