Back in my early website/SEO days I sorta did everything to make my websites rank on Google. 

 If was legal I tried it….I own a lot of mortgage websites–and believe me I tried everything to make them rank well.

I’ve probably wasted more $$ than anybody I know on website marketing.   So any success I have today is only because I risked failure.   I am the Thomas Edison of SEO…My mortgage websites only rank well because I’ve failed more than anybody I know.  I wish I were kidding….

SEO Tip #1:  Don’t ever spend a dollar with a website marketing/SEO company unless they are willing to tell you about their failure.  Website marketing is always changing…so anytime somebody uses the word “guru” to describe themselves.  Run.  Or if they ever use the phrase “you are guaranteed to rank in 30 days …”  Run faster.

At first I did a form of Pay Per Click,  PPC.  And that failed.  Big time. Well, it depends how you look at it…while I personally didn’t make a cent on PPC  the PPC company made a killing off me!

Then, long story short,  I found a solid website designer and through  MUCH trial and error I finally found some things that really worked well. 

So let me offer some SEO advice….

SEO Tip #2:   If you aren’t willing to update your website, then don’t bother spending a dollar on Organic SEO. Other than people wanting SEO help for free this is the single biggest hurdle to succeeding in SEO.  (Remember, Organic SEO is the opposite of Pay Per Click PPC SEO).   To rank well it’s gunna costs you some money and probably a little time. There ain’t no free lunch.  If you don’t want to spend the time, spend your dollars on PPC.

SEO Tip #3:   Install a wordpress blog on your website and blog like crazy.   This is where the time investment comes in….blogging.  Sorta like I’m what doing now.  Don’t let some fancy-dancy web designer tell you how hard it is to update your website.   Truth be told, the only hard part is the time.  If you don’t have the time, hire us or hire us to train somebody at your work….but updating a website is the fuel for success.
