Texas SEO: How a porn star can help your SEO efforts.
Sometimes you can learn a lot from a porn star.
One of the BEST things you can do for your website / SEO campaigns is to have your core keywords IN your URL. Remember, the URL is your actual website name. It’s the www.thingy…. For example, my mortgage company’s URL is www.mylendingplace.com.
To illustrate how important the URL is, I did a search for Jenna Jamison, a popular Porn Star. A VERY popular porn star. There are over 8 Million about her. So say the least, 8 million is a very competitive market. To give you a comparison, when I searched for “mortgage rates” there were “only” 15 million pages on this topic. So this one little girl has almost half the pages as the entire online mortgage market! Wow. Double Wow.
So let’s learn from her!
What do you notice about the websites that are on the first page? Notice how all first pagers have “Jenna Jameson” within the website URL. The URLs seem to be driving a lot of the SEO juice.
So how can this porn wisdom help your business? It means you probably want to get a new website domain. Or maybe lease one of mine. At the very least it means you need to make sure your URLs are SEO friendly.
Own an Insurance company? Why does your URL say something generic like: www.EddyIsAreallyNeatInsuranceGuyWhoSellsTermLifeInsuranceInTexas.net
Wouldn’t www.TexasTermLife.com be better…wait, that’s my website :)
For example, I once had a client call me about doing their SEO for their Austin Solar Company. And yes, they had one of those really generic website address URLs…something completely un-keyword friendly. My suggestion to them? Lease my domain www.austintexassolar.com for $400/month.
Because there’s simply no better way to rank for “Austin Texas Solar” keywords unless you have these words in your .com.
They fired me.
Which is funny because I’ve done almost nothing to my site since launching it and I’ve gotten a ton of calls. I even get resumes from people wanting to work for an Austin Solar Company!!! Having your core keywords in your URL is probably one of the least understood, most critical SEO tips I can give you.
“SEO is not an event, it’s a process!!!”
PS. I found this link and I think it really compliments my whole “URL is critical to SEO page rank” sermon. Check it out…can you believe parking spaces are going up to $1000 to park your car? And that doesn’t include your Super Bowl Ticket or Beer!!! Why would someone pay this??? It’s because they are worth it.
SEO works the same way! Very few pages can be on the first page of Google and for those that can make it there–it’s really worth it to pay to be apart of these “Super URLs.” Paying to be “at the game” might be the only way you get traffic for your site–at first. Use the Super URLs to help launch your own organic SEO results.
